Freelancing:

Freelancing means to work as an independent company rather than be employed by someone else. Freelancers are self-employed and often referred to as independent contractors.

What are the best freelancing communities?

These are the 8 best freelancing communities that I came across on the internet:

1. Reddit’s Freelancing community

A great place to ask any question related to freelancing, such as how to sign more clients and what kind of great sites you can use on getting better as a freelancer. Reddit is already a great place (mostly) but this community is definitely worth joining.

2. The Digital Nomad community

So most Digital Nomads (people that travel around the world while working) are freelancers or at least entrepreneurs. This community brings all of these people together.

3. The Freelancer.com community

So this place puts out content multiple times a week but the best information is usually found in the comments. Lots of freelancers comment on the blog posts with valuable information.

4. The Freelance Institute

A bit pricey but definitely worth joining. You can join this community for $10 a month and it will give you access to a Slack group that talks about freelancing and everything around it.

5. Success Hacks for Freelancers

This group is dedicated to freelancers who want to sign more clients, want to be more productive, and mainly just want to be the best freelancer they can be.

6.Sologig:

Sologig is reminiscent of a traditional job board. Freelancers can register for free and sign up for an e-newsletter so job opportunities come right to your inbox. Once you’re signed up, you can search for jobs or peruse an RSS feed of open gigs. To target opportunities that would be a good fit, you can upload your resume and let Sologig’s job-matching technology match keywords in your resume with company listings

7.Hour.ly

Hour.ly is a relatively new social networking community. Launched on Labor Day 2010, Hour.ly gained some initial attention by winning the People’s Choice Award at the O’Reilly Media Startup Showcase.

8.Freelance Switch:

Freelance Switch is a community site that lists freelance jobs in addition to providing information about the freelancer lifestyle. The site has many articles about setting prices, finding and dealing with clients, and getting referral business. It recently relaunched its regular podcasts, which cover topics such as debt collection, personal branding, and contract negotiations.
